Weekly Summary:
February 12-February 18, 2006
Sunday, Preston returns to his room from Emma's to find Dave still in bed with the girl he was with the previous night. Monday, Preston interviews Sal Rodriguez, the president of the Multicultural Theatre Organization, a group stripped of its budget by the Student Association (SA) because a show they put on last year went way over budget. Preston then interviews a representative of Beats Alive, the group that performed at the show last year, and he claims that the group didn't charge a thing, doing the show for free. Preston gets an extension to follow up on the story, but SA President Alan Chilling doesn't return his calls Tuesday. Nonetheless, Preston enjoys the evening with Emma. They tell each other they love one another for the first time, though Emma stops him short of having sex. Wednesday, Editor in Chief Larry Schmidt tells Preston to stick to his original assignment, leaving out the new-found information. Thursday, after the staff meeting, Sam takes Preston out for pizza and encourages him to continue pursuing the story. Friday, Preston goes looking through the SA records to find the Beats Alive concert, but can't find it. He does, however, spot the contract for the upcoming Directionals Concert, for which SA is scheduled to be spending $5,000 less than the amount described in a Window article the week before. On Saturday, Preston goes to an open mic night with Emma where he's blown away with the quality of the director of The Off Beats, Veronica's performance.
