Preston 's mom calls on Sunday to talk about Ray's wedding. Monday, Preston and his father prepare Valerie for her testimony, reassuring her that she will do well on the stand. Valerie testifies Tuesday, and when the prosecutor asks if her parents' arguments ever scared her, she hesitates and looks to Adam, before shaking her head, and saying that they never did, and that her father couldn't be guilty. Wednesday, Preston observes that Valerie didn't return his calls the night before, and catches her and Adam arguing in the court hallway, but they stop abruptly when they see him. Preston tells his Dad about the argument Thursday, and he suggests that Preston try talking directly to Adam. Preston meets up with Adam in his basement studio Friday, only to find that Valerie hasn't been talking to him, and he is protective over some radio show scripts that Preston tries to read. Preston drives to Valerie's street Saturday night, and visualizes how the murder may have occurred, picturing Adam as the one who pulled the trigger.
