Preston takes a Sunday trip to his grandmother's apartment to play cards. On Monday, Preston shoots around at the basketball court at the Shermantown Town Park, remembering old times. Tuesday, Preston eats dinner with his father and they talk about his mother, John still trying to figure out why she left. On Wednesday, Preston visits his old high school, and as he leaves, gets a call on his cell from Sam, who is on Spring Break in Palm Springs. Sam communicates that he's heard another news writer, Carl Dumont, will run against Preston for the News Editor position. Preston grows restless Thursday night, talking to Emma on the phone and awaiting Matt's arrival in town the next day. Preston and Matt go cruising around town Friday night, and Matt reveals that he and his girlfriend Trista are through. On Saturday night, the two go out to a bar with fake IDs furnished by Matt. Matt gets them into a conversation with his ex-girlfriend Julie and her friends. Just as Matt is cozying up to her, her boyfriend, football player Johnny Reed, arrives, and Preston and Matt walk away from the conversation.
