Preston 's dad drives him back to college on Sunday, and talks about the importance of Preston 's work at The Window . On Monday, Preston works on homework at Emma's and they talk about The Off Beats' upcoming competition. Tuesday, Preston helps out at The Window office. It becomes clear that, though Sam is in Preston 's corner as he prepares to run for News Editor, Managing Editor Carrie is supporting Carl, as longer-standing staff member. Preston is in the office again Wednesday as Carl learns about the newspaper. The discussion revolves around the upcoming SA President election between SA Officer Tucker Williams, and Multicultural Theatre Organization President Sal Rodriguez. On Thursday, Sam is voted in as Editor in Chief of The Window . Preston and Carl answer questions from the staff before the election, and Preston ends up winning. On Friday, Preston rides with The Off Beats to the site of their competition. That night, at the hotel, he speaks to Veronica in the hallway when he goes out to get ice late at night, and finds Veronica out there, unable to sleep. Saturday night, a rival a cappella group, the all-male Sidewinders, host the competition and perform one of The Off Beats' songs before they do. Nonetheless, The Off Beats persevere and Emma turns in the performance of the night to help the group take first place honors that night.
